A fitness blogger named Kate recently shown on her Instagram account called “Dedikated lifestyle” how she has changed over 6 years. At first glance, it might appear that the order of the photos was confusing, but in reality, it was not. It didn’t really get thinner, but vice versa, it got curvier. Kate says she was happier and our article will tell you why.

We admire people, and Kate in particular, who are brave enough to show their true feelings to the world and follow their hearts. We hope you find inspiration in it too.

On January 8, Kate posted a photo of herself in 2014 and 2020. She has gone through drastic changes, but her story is not about losing weight. This Australian girl has changed her way of thinking and accepting herself as she is. She decided to stop following common beauty standards and chose her own way of being happy.

The comment she left for this photo explains it all. It was really inspiring and we would like to share it with you with the permission of the author:

“It’s so hard for me to look at old photos and remember being that girl 💔 Not because I would still like to be like this or because I compare my body. But because it reminds me of how obsessed I was.

It reminds me of when I excluded myself from social events so I didn’t have to eat out. It reminds me of wasting time with my friends, my family, and my husband because I chose the gym above all else. It reminds me of daily weigh-ins, secret binges, and the constant desire to weigh less.

And, you know what, it reminds me of sadness, of being ashamed and never feeling good enough.

I can tell you that weighing less does not mean that your life will suddenly improve. Long-term happiness, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose don’t come from short-term weight loss.

I know I’d rather be curvy / bigger / thicker, free from diet culture, and have freedom around food than to be “skinny” and consume less, watch those numbers go down every day, and count. the calories in my lettuce leaves.

Remember that sometimes weight gain is simply a side effect of having a better life and that “healthy” is different for everyone. Maybe it’s time to trust yours and let them act. “
