Constipation is a symptom, not a disease. While most causes are benign, it can sometimes be a warning sign of more malevolent conditions like hypothyroidism, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, colon cancer, diverticulitis, and inflammatory bowel disease. In the United States, people spend more than $ 250 million on constipation medications each year.
Treatment methods for constipation depend on the underlying cause and its duration. But there are ways to get rid of constipation at home. However, it is important to note that if you suffer from other side effects, you should make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible.
We compiled a list of foods you can add to your diet and some other ways to say goodbye to constipation.
Alleviating Constipation
Water
Constipation occurs due to dehydration in the colon. Keeping the body properly hydrated means that less water is removed from the colon.
This keeps the stool soft and allows it to pass more easily. It is advisable to drink at least 8 glasses of water every day so that the body’s metabolism works smoothly.
Blackstrap Molasses
Blackstrap molasses is made by boiling sugar syrup 3 times. This process makes it contain a significant amount of vitamins and minerals (particularly magnesium) that help relieve constipation. A tablespoon of molasses before bed should help relieve constipation.
Sesame Seeds
If you’re constipated, sprinkle some sesame seeds over your salad, yogurt, or smoothie. One tablespoon of sesame seeds contains approximately 1.1 g of fiber which helps relieve constipation.
Another good option can be pumpkin seeds. 1 ounce of pumpkin seeds (about 85 seeds) contains an incredible 5 g of fiber.
Bananas
It’s a matter of time. While green bananas can cause constipation, ripe bananas can help relieve constipation. So if you suffer from constipation, eat ripe bananas, but if you have frequent bowel activity, eat green bananas.
Acupressure
The Conception Vessel 6 (CV 6) is located 3 fingers below the navel. To stimulate the intestines, use your fingers to firmly press this area for 30 seconds. While stimulating, keep your eyes closed and breathe normally.
Aromatherapy
Lemon, orange, rosemary, basil, fennel, and mint are the best scents to combat constipation.
Exercises
A regular walking plan that lasts 10-15 minutes a day can significantly increase the effectiveness of the digestive system.
