Deliberately exercising your eyesight is one of those simple things that few people do, but it can go a long way toward maintaining great vision.
Here are ten exercises, which will not take you more than ten minutes. Give it a try, we can’t stress how useful they are!
1. Blinks for two minutes. This exercise helps regulate blood circulation within the eyes.
2. Turn your head in a circular motion while looking straight ahead. First from right to left, then from top to bottom. This increases blood circulation in the eyes.
3. Look to the right and slowly move your eyes to the left. Then do the same in the opposite direction.
4. Close your eyes and relax. Darkness is believed to help strengthen the photoreceptor cells in the eyes, which, in turn, can help maintain clear vision.
5. Move your gaze in several different directions. Look from right to left, top to bottom; rotate your eyes in a circular motion; draw an eight.
6. Close your eyes tightly for three to five seconds and then open them. Do this seven times. This helps relax the eye muscles and increases blood circulation to the eyes.
7. Lightly push the temples with your fingers. Hold this pressure for about two seconds. Repeat four to five times. This improves the flow of intraocular fluid.
8. Keeping your eyes open, draw simple geometric shapes with your eyes. Then move on to more complicated shapes.
9. Close your eyes and slowly move your eyeballs up and down. Repeat this five to ten times.
10. Strengthen your focus near and far from your eyes.
Sit in a chair or stand in front of an empty wall. Place your thumb about 10 inches in front of your face and focus on it. You can also focus on an object five to ten feet away for 10 to 15 seconds.
Then focus on an object 10 feet in front of you, without moving your head. Focus on the object for 10-15 seconds.
After 10-15 seconds, focus on the thumb again. Practice five times.
